"Out of nowhere, and for some befuddling reason, I had the impulse to do some small dog portraits. Though also a bit poignant, perhaps the fact that they made me laugh while painting them was reason enough! These dogs are not based on any particular critters – rather they are painted from my imagination and put into an imaginary context." - Pia Stern
