The Procession Moves On, by Daniel Ketelhut
The Procession Moves On, by Daniel Ketelhut, 48" x 60", Oil on Canvas, Unframed
The Procession Moves On was inspired by a Dead Can Dance song called "The Carnival is Over". Driven by a strange desire, the forms in this spiritual art depart after the briefest of stays. Some great, unknown intention is afoot as they move inexorably on.
I have been a practicing Buddhist for many years. As such, I have found that it is good to remind ourselves often of our motivations and desires, which strongly dictate our actions, usually to greater degrees than we are aware of.
Curated Description: The Procession Moves On uses bold primary colors and organic shapes to achieve playful mood. Done in oil on canvas, the dark splotches and dripping paint remind the viewer of the ominous creatures hidden in the abstract composition.
