The Gaze, by Roxanne Grooms
The Gaze, By Roxanne Grooms, 12" x 12", Mixed Media on Wood Panel, Unframed
As in all of my paintings, the circle becomes personified to take on a role. In The Gaze, the character has taken shape as a pensive being who is in a state of unrest with a tension-filled stance embellished by an awkward gaze. The piercing inquiry is both hopeful yet hopeless of deciphering what is so. But the questions must be asked and examined.
Curated Description: The Gaze is a collection of geometry accentuated with colored pencil and acrylic. Concentric circles and sweeping arcs create an abstract composition with an ambiguous meaning.
