Primal Dreamscape, by Daniel Ketelhut
Primal Dreamscape, by Daniel Ketelhut, 30" x 40", Oil on Cradled Panel
In Primal Dreamscape disparate forms struggle to articulate themselves amid the cold, dark energies of a newborn dream. For me this fantasy artwork evokes a landscape, an otherworldly, dreamy one in which things are not yet fully congealed. Like most of my work, Primal Dreamscape started as a drawing, one which established both the linear structure of the forms as well as the value range. The painting consists of successive layers of transparent glazes followed by selective applications of opaque colors.
Curated Description: Primal Dreamscape is an intense composition that uses a pale palette to depict an amorphous collection of organic shapes. This surrealist dreamscape is painted in oil on cradled wood panel and combines soft color blending, dripping paint, and thin outlining for a chaotic effect.
