Professional artist working in oil; abstract, figurative, still life, and botanical.
Ansley is native to California, but spent the first part of her adult life traveling throughout Europe and the Middle East. After attending La Sorbonne, Ansley returned to CA. It was there where her life took a distinguishing turn. Ansley was diagnosed with MS at the age of 30. Upon the realization that her life was never to be the same, she began her journey as a professional artist. She started out as a watercolorist and gradually was drawn towards working in oil.
In 2008, Ansley began a career in curating art for galleries as well as for individual collections, gaining her training and experience through working with other well known curators and taking seminar workshops through the Independent Curators Association. Ansley's experience and knowledge working in galleries and in the private sector has widened her scope to not only how work is best displayed, but how her own art has become a cohesive collection.
Behind the Scenes
My subject has always been related to the feminine shapes, and to the imperfections that are the true source of beauty and uniqueness in all things.
As I continue my artistic journey I blend both the organic shapes in nature and the beauty of the feminine form with vibrant colors and bold strokes to create an image that captivates the viewer. The lines, splatter, and geometric forms in my work add an abstraction that creates interest. I always considered my art to be a continuing conversation with myself and the world around me.
